Eagles’ First-Round Draft Pick ‘Mad’ at Himself Amid Training Camp

Philadelphia Eagles rookie Quinyon Mitchell got his feet wet in their preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium last Friday. He started at right cornerback and helped the Eagles hack out a 16-13 victory.

Mitchell, drafted by the Eagles as the 22nd overall pick, almost recorded his first interception but the ball popped out of his arms.

After the game, he rued the near-interception, as reported by Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“It was in the bread basket, and I let it out," Mitchell said. "I should have brought it in.”

The 23-year-old former Toledo standout continues to set high standards for himself as he aims to be a vital part of the rotation of the Eagles. With just a few days to go before the start of the season, he acknowledged that he has to work harder in training camp.

“I really want it back,” Mitchell added, referring to the slip. “I’m kind of mad at myself. This week in practice, I just got to be working hard to bring it in.”

While Mitchell was hard on himself, his fellow cornerback James Bradberry touted his young teammate's attributes.

“I feel like he has all the tools,” Bradberry said, as quoted by McLane. “He just has to get acclimated with the speed of the game and getting comfortable out there."

“But he’s handling it well.”

Mitchell will look to bounce back on Thursday when his Eagles visit the New England Patriots.
