'Mark My Words!' Ex Bucs DE Pierre-Paul Makes Odd Super Bowl Claim

Last season was a hushed campaign for Jason Pierre-Paul. Suiting up for his third team in three seasons, the veteran defensive end appeared in only one game for the New Orleans Saints.

Pierre-Paul, a four-year player on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , remains a free agent heading into the 2024 season with little to no buzz humming around his prospects with another team.

Clearly within or passing the twilight stages of his career, his most recent season of note came in 2020 when he helped the Bucs to a Super Bowl victory. Now, he is locking in a promise of a similar reward to his next suitor.

Sunday afternoon, a day removed from the Bucs' first preseason victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, Pierre-Paul took to X to stake his claim for one more shot in what would be his 15th NFL season.

"I know I’m a free agent, but mark my words: whatever team I end up on, we're going to the Super Bowl, and that I do know, my spider senses tell me YES!! Watch me cook."

Perhaps that is a true statement if a top contender feels the need to take a shot on him or becomes thin on its defensive line. But what does Pierre-Paul have to offer a franchise at this time?

Unfortunately, his time has likely passed. The former first-round pick had an impact in his younger years with the New York Giants, winning his first Super Bowl in 2012 before his time with the Bucs.

Maybe some pieces fall his way and he gets another shot. Luckily for the former star, he has reached the pinnacle of the sport already, achieving heights that most players do not see during their entire career.
