NBA superstar Kevin Durant recently opened up about his thoughts on retirement. The 35-year-old, who will turn 36 in September, admits he frequently wrestles with the idea of stepping away from the game.

Although he hasn’t made any decisions, the concept is always on in his mind.

"Should I stop thinking about it?" Durant said on TV One's ‘Raising Fame’. "It creeps in my mind for sure."

While Durant is uncertain about his future plans, he is certain about one thing, he wants to remain connected to basketball.

"I honestly don't know what I'll do," he revealed. "I definitely want to stay around the game."

Durant also expressed a desire to continue supporting his hometown of Washington, D.C., through philanthropic efforts.

"I want to continue to build out the philanthropy and do stuff in my hometown and work with my mom and my aunt," Durant added.

Considering basketball has been his life since he was a kid, Durant finds the prospect of retirement challenging.

"This is a huge transition," Durant said. "I've been at this since I was eight."

"Every day was centered around the game of basketball," he continued. "It hasn’t been no other lifestyle but this. So I just want to have some time and space to kind of really step out of this matrix and figure out who I am as an individual."

Durant’s basketball career has been nothing short of phenomenal. After being selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the second overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, he won Rookie of the Year.

He has since earned two NBA championships, two Finals MVP awards, and the 2014 regular-season MVP. Durant has been selected to 14 All-Star Games (winning two MVPs) and named to an All-NBA team eleven times (six first-team).

With four gold medals now, with the most recent coming from Team USA's recent win over France at the Paris Games, many also consider him the gold standard in Olympic men's hoops.

Though Durant’s career isn’t over yet, it’s clear that his time on the court is approaching its final chapters. Despite this, his impact on the game has been nothing short of extraordinary.
