The Miami Dolphins received great news from their training staff regarding one of their star injured players who was placed on Injured Reserve in Week 12 of the 2023 NFL season.

In the fourth quarter of the Dolphins' Black Friday game against the New York Jets, linebacker Jaelan Phillips tore his right Achilles in a non-contact injury, later confirmed by an MRI. As a result, he missed the remaining seven games of the season.

On Monday morning, head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Phillips would be taken off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list that day and return to practice.

Phillips returned to the practice field on Monday.

At just 25 years old, Phillips will look to build on what many consider a career year last season.

The former 2021 first-round NFL draft pick out of Miami finished the 2023 season with 43 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 1 interception in eight games.

With Phillips returning to action, he's expected to start at the outside linebacker position under new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.

In 2021, Phillips made the PFWA All-Rookie team after tallying 8.5 sacks. He followed that up with an impressive sophomore year, recording seven sacks and 61 total tackles.
