Chiefs' Chris Jones Blasts 'Weak List' For Leaving Him Out

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones is one of the league's top enforcers. He has tallied 273 total tackles and has won three Super Bowl titles in eight seasons in the NFL.

Before being drafted by the Chiefs as the 37th overall pick in 2016, Jones obliterated rivals in his hometown of Mississippi, even back in high school.

On Monday, a user on X posted his list of best Mississippi high school football players since 1975. Jones, however, wasn't feeling it.

The post listed Houston Texans running back Cam Akers as number one, followed by former Los Angeles Rams running back Marcus Dupree and former Tennessee champion Brian Darden.

Jones, a five-time All-Pro selection, called the list "weak" and pointed out an omission: NFL great Steve McNair, who grew up in Mount Olive, Mississippi.

McNair led Mount Olive High School to the state championship as a junior. He went on to have a stellar career in the NFL, winning co-MVP in 2003 and getting selected to three Pro Bowls.

Jones, who grew up in Houston, Mississippi, was likewise not included on the list despite being a five-star recruit out of Houston High School. He stayed home for college and played for Mississippi State.

Now, Jones is an indispensable part of the Chiefs. Last March, he signed a five-year, $158.75 million deal to return to the squad, making him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.
