2 Chiefs Named to All-Under-25 Defensive Team

The Kansas City Chiefs are nothing if not young. That's evidenced on both sides of the ball, and primarily by starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who's already accomplished a career's worth of accolades at the age of 28.

There are stars on the defensive side of the ball, too, and two of those were just named to CBS Sports' All-Under-25 Defensive Team .

At linebacker, the 24-year-old Nick Bolton received the honor.

"Bolton missed nine games last season due to injury, but still recorded 60 combined tackles, three passes defended and one interception in the eight contests he did play in. When healthy, Bolton is absolutely one of the best linebackers in the NFL . In 2022, he recorded 180 combined tackles, two sacks and three passes defended to go along with two interceptions. He's in a contract year this season, so watch out."

And at cornerback, the 23-year-old Trent McDuffie was honored for being one of the best corners in the league.

"McDuffie was one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL last season, as he earned First Team All-Pro honors after recording 80 combined tackles, three sacks, seven passes defended and a whopping five forced fumbles. He also recorded the most QB hits by a cornerback since the stat was first tracked in 2006 with nine, and quarterbacks completed 46% of passes for zero touchdowns and two interceptions when McDuffie was fired off the edge by defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo."

The Chiefs are often praised for their offensive prowess behind Mahomes, but there are plenty of stars on the defensive side of the ball that have contributed to Kansas City's recent success and two straight Super Bowl wins.

And if the Chiefs are to be successful in becoming the first team to ever win three Super Bowls in a row, then it will be at least partially thanks to the defense.
