Bills AFC East Update: Dolphins Activate Jaelan Phillips Off PUP List

If the Buffalo Bills were worried about how their offensive line looked in the preseason opener, they got even worse news just a few days later.

The Miami Dolphins activated Jaelan Phillips off the PUP list as the young edge rusher makes his return from a torn Achilles suffered near the end of last season.

Phillips has recorded 22 sacks through his first three seasons since being drafted by the Dolphins with the 18th overall pick in the 2021 draft.

Buffalo has only given up one sack off Phillips in four games played in the last three seasons, but it's clear their offensive line issues could be something that haunts them in 2024.

The Bills gave up eight sacks in the 33-6 loss to the Chicago Bears to open preseason action. While the starting offensive line was better than the backups, Josh Allen was still running for his life in the limited action fans saw him in.

It's why Phillips' return to the field for Miami could cause some big issues for Buffalo.

Miami remains arguably the most likely team to thwart Buffalo's plans of winning the AFC East for the fifth consecutive year. With a full array of edge rushers at their disposal, 2024 might be the year the Bills relinquish control of their division.
