Gophers LB Lindenberg makes Bednarik Award watch list

Minnesota Gophers linebacker Cody Lindenberg has been named to a watch list for a national award.

The Anoka native on Monday became the latest Gopher to make a preseason watch list when he was included among the candidates for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which is given each year to the most outstanding defender in college football.

It’s the seventh preseason watch list to include a Gopher, and Lindenberg joins Darnell Jefferies , Daniel Jackson , Darius Taylor , Dragan Kesich and Aireontae Ersery as Minnesota players named to at least one watch list.

The redshirt senior played only four games last season due to injury but still made 31 tackles, 3.5 for loss and forced one fumble.
