The Boston Red Sox (61-55) are doing everything in their power to remain in the playoff chase deep into September. With an offense that has led MLB since the All-Star Break in OPS, hitting has been of no concern for Boston.

Hitting has been of no concern for Triple-A prospect Mickey Gasper of late, either, as he was named International League Hitter of the Week on Monday.

Gasper enters Monday with a .401/.515/.664 line in Triple-A this season with 20 extra-base hits and 32 RBI over 171 plate appearances in 40 games.

Gasper stepped it up over the last week. Playing in four games from August 5th-August 11th, Gasper went 11-for-19 with three extra-base hits and three RBI, leading him to be named International League Hitter of the Week.

Gasper, 28, was drafted by the New York Yankees (70-49) in the 27th round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He would spend five seasons in the Yankees' farm system before being drafted by the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox on December 6th, 2023.

Gasper did not rank on the Red Sox's top 30 prospects list entering the season per MLB Pipeline . However, he has been a solid hitter in every level of minor league baseball with a career minor league line of .276/.395/.453 with 129 extra-base hits and 203 RBI across 1,567 plate appearances in 399 games.

The Red Sox called Gasper up on Monday. He is yet to make his Major League debut, but that should come within the next few days.
