Jets Have No One to Blame But Themselves for Haason Reddick Trade Request

Over the last two seasons, Haason Reddick has made it known that he doesn't think his three-year, $45 million contract, which he signed in 2022, was fair compensation.

The Philadelphia Eagles had the foresight to get ahead of Reddick's contract frustrations when they shipped him to the New York Jets in April.

The Jets went through with the trade even though Reddick did not agree to their original contract demands. In doing so, the Jets created a problem that has come to a head in training camp.

With Reddick having requested a trade from the Jets, New York may have all the leverage but is losing in the court of public opinion by the hour.

Making matters worse, the Jets gave Reddick even more leverage when they traded away John Franklin-Myers on the final day of draft night. With Franklin-Myers being moved, Reddick could return to the Jets with more demands and higher leverage.

The edge rusher may be running out of leverage, but it doesn't mean the Jets were right as an organization.

If Gang Green couldn't get a deal done before, they should have never made the trade. They also should've foreseen his current deal would not be enough to satisfy him.

In the end, the Jets have no one to blame but themselves.
