Josh Pate Makes Surprising Record Prediction For Miami Hurricanes

College football analyst Josh Pate has made his prediction on how he thinks the Miami Hurricanes will fare in 2024.

Miami is coming off a disappointing finish to the 2023 season in which it lost six of its last nine contests. However, it brought back lots of young talent, recruited a top-4 high school class in the country, and added 15 new transfer portal players, including quarterback Cam Ward.

On Late Kick With Josh Pate, Pate analyzed Miami's navigable schedule, which only includes one game against a program in the AP Top 25 (FSU), and stated that he could see The U finishing the season with an 11-1 record.

"If the worst case is an improvement, those are really high standards," Pate said. "But I think it's warranted with this team. I got Miami going 11-1 this year."

"That sends them to the ACC Championship Game probably," Pate said of his prediction. "That may very well lock them into a playoff spot regardless of what happens in the ACC Championship Game. I got very high expectations for that team this year."

Ward makes his way to Miami after stopping at Incarnate Word and Washington State. He brings four years of starting experience to Mario Cristobal's team.

The Miami program has been lacking in high standards for over twenty years now. The Hurricanes have only won 10 games in a season once since 2003, the final season they played in the Big East before transitioning to the ACC.

Pate also said that he thinks this team's floor is 8-4, with a ceiling of 12-0.

Many fans think the 2024 team will be different than in years past. The schedule lines up very favorably. After Monday's preseason AP Poll release, Miami will only play one ranked opponent the entire season: Florida State.

Only time will tell if Miami can compete for a national championship in 2024 like they did back in the day.
