Alabama commit Keelon Russell officially upgraded to a five-star quarterback

It has been a wild summer for college football fans after seeing the success Kalen DeBoer is already having in recruiting for the Alabama program.

Top prospects in the 2025 and 2026 class have already committed their times to join the Crimson Tide in future season. One recruit making headlines all summer was quarterback Keelon Russell from Duncanville, TX.

Russell made massive headline after being declared the winner of the Elite 11 finals, beating out other talent in such a prestigious event. The last Alabama quarterback to win this even was none other than Tua Tagovailoa. Former commit Julian Sayin won the event last year, but ultimately transferred to Ohio State after Nick Saban announced his retirement.

According to Marshall Levenson on X , Rivals officially listed Russell as a now five-star prospect, which also surges him as a Top-10 recruit in the 2025 recruiting class.
