The Carolina Panthers made several roster adjustments over the weekend, focusing on adding depth to their roster while also making difficult decisions to release a few players. The moves were largely motivated by recent injuries and the need to strengthen both the offensive and defensive lines.

On Saturday, the Panthers brought back defensive tackle Jayden Peevy, a player familiar with the team's system, having been on their practice squad last season. Peevy, a product of Texas A&M, had spent time with the Tennessee Titans and briefly with the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason. His return comes at a crucial time, especially with rookie defensive end Jaden Crumedy sidelined by an ankle injury suffered in Thursday's game.

The roster shuffling continued on Sunday as the Panthers signed two more linemen: veteran defensive tackle Walter Palmore and offensive lineman Jack Anderson, as well as wide receiver Tayvion Robinson. Palmore, 28, brings experience from his stints with the Texans, Cowboys, Seahawks, and a brief camp period with the Panthers in 2021. Anderson, 25, a versatile offensive lineman out of Texas Tech, has had a journeyman career across several NFL teams, including the Eagles and Giants. Robinson, 23, had been with the Panthers earlier this summer. Carolina needed help on both sides of the ball after Thursday’s game, where Crumedy went down, as well as offensive linemen Badara Traore who hurt his knee and Cade Mays, who had a shoulder issue.

In a corresponding move, the Panthers released several players to clear roster space. Cornerback Willie Drew and running back Jaden Shirden were let go, with Shirden being a rookie hopeful who showed potential during camp. Additionally, wide receiver Deven Thompkins was waived with an injury designation. Thompkins, who had joined the Panthers after a stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will revert to injured reserve if he clears waivers. Thompkins' release underscores the team's pressing need to maintain a healthy roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.

These decisions reflect the Panthers' ongoing efforts to solidify their lineup, ensuring depth and readiness as they head deeper into training camp and the preseason.
