Details have emerged about the growing rift between star pass rusher Haason Reddick and the New York Jets.

Reddick, who was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in April for a conditional third-round pick—potentially turning into a second-round pick if he meets performance incentives—has been absent from training camp and OTAs.

According to ESPN analyst and NFL insider Diana Russini, the tension between Reddick and the Jets stems from a lack of trust, communication, and contract disagreements.

When the Jets traded for Reddick, they were aware of his desire for a higher-paying contract.

Despite this, the Jets presented a “below-market” offer, which Reddick rejected. Proceeding with the trade without securing a new deal, the Jets assumed Reddick would accept his existing contract based on information from his representative. However, Reddick’s camp had expected a new offer.

A few weeks ago, the Jets suggested reworking Reddick’s current deal if he showed up for camp, but this offer seemed inconsistent with what was previously agreed upon. Consequently, Reddick remained absent, deepening the lack of trust.

Reddick, known for his exceptional pass-rushing skills, has consistently been among the top performers in recent years.

Over the past four seasons, only Reddick and Cleveland Browns pass rusher Myles Garrett have recorded double-digit sack totals each year.

Whether the two sides will reach an agreement remains uncertain. Reddick doesn't appear likely to return soon, and the Jets seem firm in their stance.

Jets General Manager Joe Douglas recently stated on X that the team is adamant about not trading Reddick and expects him to join his teammates.
