U.S. sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, so she knows very well who Dallas Mavericks icon Dirk Nowitzki is.

That said, Richardson couldn't help but have a fangirl moment when she met the Dallas legend during the women's basketball final of the 2024 Olympics on Sunday.

While she is a sporting hero herself, Richardson admitted that sharing a moment with Nowitzki was the highlight of her life. She uploaded a photo of them together and noted in the caption that it's the "most Dallas pic" of all time.

"Meeting Mr. Dirk as a South Dallas girl made my life. The most DALLAS PIC EVERR!!!" Richardson wrote.

Dirk Nowitzki played his entire 21-year NBA career with the Mavericks, leading them to their first and only championship (so far) in 2011. He's arguably the greatest Maverick to ever live, and so he's a beloved icon in Dallas.

It's not surprising to see Sha'Carri Richardson giddy to meet Nowitzki since she probably grew up watching the basketball great.

The moment between Richardson and Nowitzki is certainly a proud moment for all of Texas. After all, Richardson just cemented herself as a track and field superstar after winning two medals at the Paris Olympics.

Richardson bagged gold in the 4x100 meter relay and silver in the 100-meter race.

Sure enough, both Nowitzki and Richardson can now be considered as Dallas sporting royalty.
