After getting swept by the Houston Astros over the weekend, the Boston Red Sox have returned to the win column.

The Red Sox picked up a 5-4 walk-off win over the Texas Rangers in the 10th inning of the series opener.

A single to center field from Rob Refsnyder allowed Ceddanne Rafaela to score and secure the win for Boston.

What are the main things to take away from the series opener?

Brayan Bello set Boston up for success

Nothing puts a team in a position to win like a solid outing from its starting pitcher and Bello delivered that for Boston tonight.

In six innings on the mound, Bello held the Rangers to one run off four hits, walked three batters and struck five batters out.

Bello has gotten off to a hot start in the second half of the season and will look to help the Red Sox remain in the Wild Card race.

The Red Sox were sporadic at the plate

The best way to describe Boston's performance in the batter's box in this game would be up-and-down.

The Red Sox threatened to score early but did not end up putting a run across the plate until the fourth inning.

After putting one run on the board in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth, Boston did not score again until the 10th inning.

The Red Sox are now 62-55 on the season.

    Game 2

The first pitch for the second game of the series is set for Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. ET.
