The San Francisco 49ers have been hit with another hurt body, with defensive tackle Kalia Davis reportedly suffering a lower-body injury.

On Monday evening, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Davis was going under the knife to repair his knee, but what really got people’s attention was how the procedure was described.

“49ers DT Kalia Davis, who impressed in the first preseason game, is having surgery to remove a floating body in his knee,” wrote Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network .

“It’s essentially a scope, and his recovery should be a relatively quick one.”

The “floating body” part in Rapoport’s report could be referring to loose cartilage or bone in the knee joint area, per the description by Total Sports Medicine .

    “A floating WHAT”

“How is there another body in his body”

“My guy literally caught a body”

    “What?? Floating body????”

“Sounds like a job For Doctor Dan Campbell.”

“That's gotta hurt like a hell. Who's body is it?”

Davis was among the most notable performers for the 49ers in their 17-13 NFL preseason road loss to the Tennessee Titans last Saturday, as he recorded a sack and two tackles for loss. He also had a quarterback hit.

Unfortunately for Davis, his injury will likely keep him from seeing action for the rest of the preseason. San Francisco will face the New Orleans Saints at home this coming Sunday and the Las Vegas Raiders on the road on Aug. 23.

Davis is playing on a four-year deal worth $3.79 million he signed with the 49ers in 2022.
