St. Louis Cardinals Manager Gets Mocked For Postgame Comment After Loss To Reds

The St. Louis Cardinals suffered a 6-1 defeat in a series opener against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday. A chief reason behind the Cardinals’ loss was their offense which failed to capitalize on players getting on bases.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol highlighted the issue when he was interviewed following the contest.

"We're going to have to do a better job of executing with runners in scoring position,” Marmol said after the loss to the Reds (via Bally Sports Midwest)

“It's going to be the key to our success moving forward. We put ourselves in a situation where we could've changed the game a couple times and weren't able to."

The Cardinals had seven players left on bases against Cincy. They went 2-for-5 with runners in scoring position. St. Louis also loaded the bases in the second and third innings but scored just a run combined in both frames.

Many Cardinals fans sounded tired of hearing Marmol’s postgame talk whenever his team loses.

“You've been saying that all year and nothing has markedly improved. Why?”

“Like seriously...how many times does he have to give this same played out speech after each and every loss.”

“We are also going to have to do a better job of hiring managers”

“This is sad to watch! Meanwhile..Coach Schilt is going quite well out west. Mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake. How many you get?”

“I look foward to a different manger next season.”

“The same song and dance we get every day, are you sure he isn't a politician”

The Cardinals, who dropped to 60-59, will look to rebound this Tuesday when they give the ball to Kyle Gibson.
