To say that U.S. gymnast Suni Lee is a warrior would be an understatement. Just a little over a year ago, the former Auburn University standout was diagnosed with an undisclosed rare kidney disease that put her gymnastics career in jeopardy.

In April 2023, Lee announced that she had no other choice but to cut her sophomore year with Auburn short due to health reasons. This put an end to her brief career as an NCAA gymnast.

It didn't take long for Lee to get back on track, though. Amazingly, she was back competing just four months later as she took part in the 2023 U.S. Classic. She was able to qualify for the 2023 U.S. Championships, where she won a bronze medal in the balance beam competition.

Lee, however, opted not to participate in the World Championships and the Pan American Games because of her kidney disease.

Fast forward a year later, and Lee now comes home from the Paris Olympics with three more medals -- a gold in the team final and two bronzes in the uneven bars and the all-around finals.

After winning three medals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the 21-year-old is now a six-time Olympic medal winner.

In a recent TikTok post, Lee looked back on the incredible journey she took over the past year as she battled back from a rare disease. The decorated U.S. gymnast could not help but get a little bit emotional.

"crazy what a year can do 🥹 ," Lee captioned her video.

In the brief clip, Lee shared a couple of shots of herself from March 2023 when she was hospitalized because of her disease. This perfectly transitions to Lee on the podium in Paris with a medal around her neck.

This just speaks volumes of how far she's come. Truly, it's crazy what a year can do.
