Team USA dominated at the Paris 2024 Olympics, winning 126 total medals. 110 American athletes won at least one gold medal, and in the final medal count, which awards one medal per event, the United States tied China with 40 gold medals.

Stanford was among the most successful universities at the event. The Cardinal crushed its competition. The Cardinal brought home 39 medals for Team USA, including 12 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals.

If Stanford was its own country, it would have placed 8th on the overall medal count between Italy and the Netherlands.

The next-closest university was California, pacing far behind with 23 total medals. Virginia, USC, and Texas tied for third with 15 medals.

Katie Ledecky became the most decorated female American Olympian of all time, winning four more medals (two gold, one silver, and one bronze). Swimmers Torri Huske and Regan Smith took home five medals each.\

19 Cardinal athletes medaled for the first time in their career, including Grant Fisher, who became the first male distance runner in Team USA history to medal in both the 5,000m and 10,000m events.

Stanford continues to dominate the competition, and it should remain a fixture at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
