Tuesday morning, the Tennessee football program announced a massive sponsorship deal with Pilot as part of their current Neyland Stadium renovation project.

You can read up on all the details about Pilot's new sponsorship and what it entails right here. However, once news of the partnership hit social media, some fans couldn't wait to give the Volunteers some grief.

One Twitter user was befuddled and responded to a tweet about the news...

"What's the point of this?" he asked. "Literally what is the point. I have no clue."

One user, who must've been an Entourage fan, named @vinnychase1764, made two separate comments disparaging Tennessee for their new corporate partnership.

"Poverty gas station for a poverty program, match made in heaven," he wrote in one response. "Pilot sucks (laughing emoji) Love's on top," he added in another.

Of course, Love's is a Pilot competitor in the convenience store/truck stop market.

"Gas station program," an Alabama fan account chimed in.

Another user just responded with the gif of Ray Liotta's character cackling maniacally in Goodfellas. There were also plenty of jokes about lot lizards and the Tennessee program, and we'll just leave it there, since tweeters were a little too graphic in that department.

Meanwhile, a guy who appeared to be a Tennessee fan was not pleased at the incoming Pilot partnership — and he wasn't alone.

"I will avoid any and all Pilot gas stations at all cost," @BretGrimes vowed on Twitter.

"I really don't think I like this," said an account called Rocky Top Hype, who added a disappointed emoji face.

"I'm sure we'll use that big money to help lower ticket prices," said Gunner, a UT fan who isn't holding out for a fire sale on tickets despite the financial boost.

"Not a fan," commented @VolinAZ. "But understand the need for NIL $. Just don't make it obnoxious," he added.

That was the sentiment from many fans. Perhaps they don't care for the incoming Pilot branding that will be everywhere, but if it provides the necessary funds to go out and recruit at the highest level, then fans won't complain too much.
