ESPN Releases Final SP+ Preseason Top 25 Rankings

ESPN writer Bill Connelly has released the final preseason rankings of the SP+, a set of analytics-based metrics measuring the overall strength of every FBS college football team.

Following the release of the AP preseason poll on Monday, take a look below at how the computers spit out the top 25 rankings:

Like virtually every set of college football preseason rankings, Georgia and Ohio State lead the way at 1-2 and are followed by the triad of Oregon, Texas and Alabama. Overall, the SEC leads the way with 12 of their 16 teams — yes, that's 75% — in the top 25, representing a shade under 50% of the entire top 25.

Meanwhile, the Big Ten lands just six teams in the top 25. The ACC has three, the Big 12 three as well, and the poor Pac-12 has none and Notre Dame is all by their lonesome as an independent.
