Kentucky's injury list just took a big hit. According to KSR's Matt Jones , incoming Freshman Running Back Chip Trayanum has suffered a broken hand during fall camp, and as a result, he will be out for "3-4 weeks and likely 1-2 games" according to Jones. The transfer from Ohio State will be a huge piece for Kentucky's backfield, but they may have to turn elsewhere at the start of the season.

Head coach Mark Stoops recently addressed injuries before the announcement of Trayanum's injury. "With the injuries, Josiah Hayes will be out for an extended period of time," Stoops said. "Tavion Gadson, who filled in as a young Defensive Lineman last year for Josiah in the spring, he'll be out for an extended period of time. ...Same with Quavo Marshall, corner, and then Darrion Henry-Young at Defensive Line as well. Outside of that, we're in pretty decent shape." Now, you can add Trayanum to the injury list, although the time period is for recovery is shorter than those Stoops recently spoke about.

Trayanum's injury will make some Running Back's step up at the start of the season to make up for the absence of the Doak Walker Award candidate. Demi Sumo-Karngbaye and Jason Patterson will be among Kentucky's leaders at the position as long as Trayanum is sidelined. A big hit for the position, the Ohio State transfer who is seen as the leader at the position is going to be out for multiple weeks, and these next couple of weeks are crucial in preparing for the season.

We'll see if the injury holds him out for the first two weeks of the season, because the Wildcats will definitely want to welcome him back for a tough matchup in Week 2 against South Carolina especially.
