Despite being the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, Caitlin Clark was drafted into a decent situation with a skillful roster that included stars like Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell.

Head coach Christie Sides recently spoke on Clark connecting with her team, sharing an interesting take on the rookie playing alongside a quality shooter like Mitchell.

Sides believes Mitchell has benefited from Clark's playmaking abilities. She mentioned that the seven-year WNBA veteran has never seen open looks like the ones she's gotten this season, playing off the ball to the first-year star.

"The attention that Caitlin Clark… What she draws and how she’s been such a great playmaker with the players around her, we’re getting wide open shots," Sides said. "Kelsey Mitchell’s getting more wide open shots than she’s gotten in her career."

Mitchell is currently averaging 16.9 points per game, shooting 36.8% from three-point range and 44.3% from the field.

While her numbers have declined, with Mitchell being on pace to have her lowest-scoring season since 2019, she's been able to take a back seat in terms of offensive responsibility and has still shown incredible production.

Clark has always been known for her scoring, but Sides believes her playmaking has really helped the Fever blossom this season.

The rookie is currently averaging 17.1 points and 8.2 assists per game, leading the WNBA in average assists.
