Fans are torn after Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson confidently claimed he could beat LeBron James in a dunk contest during his appearance on the 'Up and Adams' show on Tuesday.

Richardson didn’t hold back, boldly stating that he could defeat James, especially given James’ age. Richardson, at just 22 years old, is considerably younger than LeBron, who is approaching 40.

"Right now, yeah, he's about to be 40 soon," Richardson joked, highlighting his belief in his own athleticism.

While Richardson may be a standout in the NFL with his impressive size—standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 245 pounds—the jump from football to basketball is significant.

NFL and NBA fans have voiced their opinions, some thinking Richardson would win, others thinking he has no shot.

"He's athletic, but c'mon man," said one fan who doubts Richardson.

"I think he could easy," said another. "He's a freak athlete."

"This might be one of the 3 or 4 people in the NFL who can actually say this and not get laughed at," added one more who believes in the young quarterback.

The challenge reflects ongoing debates about athletes transitioning between sports, particularly NFL and NBA players going back and forth about competing in each other's leagues.

Richardson expressed his belief that he would excel in the NBA, stating, "I feel like I would average a good 12-13 points in the NBA."

His size and athleticism could translate well on the court, but it's important to note that success in one sport doesn’t always guarantee success in another.
