One area the Cincinnati Bengals have been looking to improve has been at the punter position. In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Bengals used a sixth-round pick on Brad Robbins out of Michigan. After beating Drue Chrisman for the punting job a year ago, he's in the middle of another battle.

During team warmups on Tuesday, Robbins evidently tweaked his right quad and was down for a few minutes before walking off under his own power.

He had a short conversation with head coach Zac Taylor and special teams coordinator Derrin Simmons before heading to the locker room for treatment.

Last year, Robbins was the full-time punter and launched 76 punts on the season. He had an average of 44.3 yards per punt and 40.1 net yards per punt. His season-long was a 62-yard bomb in the Week 4 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Robbins landed 20 of his 76 punts inside the 20 and only allowed five touchbacks.

This year, he's been in a punting competition with undrafted rookie Ryan Rehkow . Austin McNamara was also on the roster but was let go on August 7.

The team added Rehkow at the end of July. After serving a three-year mission, Rehkow was actually a massive weapon for the BYU Cougars. As a freshman, he punted 28 times for 45.1 a piece. In 2021, it was 40 punts for 48.6 per. Rehkow punted 40 more times in 2022 for 46.2 yards per punt. And then last year, he punted 68 times for 48.4 yards per.
