Timberwolves’ NBA Cup schedule revealed

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ group play schedule for the NBA’s in-season tournament has been revealed.

The Wolves will announced Tuesday as part of Group A for the NBA Cup, a group that also features the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings.

Minnesota’s schedule for the tourney is as follows:

• at Portland on Nov. 12 at 9 p.m.
• at Sacramento on Nov. 15 at 9 p.m.
• vs. Houston on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m.
• vs. Clippers on Nov. 29 at 6:30 p.m.

That final game, against the Clippers, will also be televised on ESPN, the league says, and all seven NBA knockout round games will be nationally televised, too.

The winner of each group plus two wild cards — the second-place team from each conference with the best group play record — advance to the knockout rounds, where teams play single-elimination games.

The winner of the tournament gets prize money — $500,000 per player last season — and a trophy. The Lakers won the first event in 2023.

All NBA Cup games count toward regular-season standings, except the championship game.

The full 2024-25 schedule will be released in the coming days, but the Timberwolves already seemingly have three nationally televised games and may be in line for several more.
