Philadelphia Eagles fans could get their first look at Cooper DeJean sooner than expected.

DeJean, the No. 40 pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, has been on the Non-Football Injury List with a hamstring injury throughout Eagles training camp. The rookie DB returned for the team's joint practice with the New England Patriots on Tuesday.

It's a positive sign to see DeJean ahead of schedule in his recovery, but the Eagles plan to be cautious. Head coach Nick Sirianni is optimistic that the Iowa product will be ready when it counts this season. For now, he's just working on "individual drills" and learning defensive coverages.

The Eagles play the Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Thursday for their Week 2 preseason game. It's believed that DeJean will be held out of that one, but he reportedly has his sights set on Week 3 to "get work in" against the Minnesota Vikings.

It would be in front of the raucous home crowd at Lincoln Financial Field, and it would be the last chance DeJean could get his NFL feet wet in a game atmosphere before the Eagles travel to Brazil for the regular-season opener on September 6.
