Kevin Durant Reveals Text Message From LeBron James Before Paris Olympics

The U.S. Men's Basketball Team dominated the 2024 Paris Olympics, going undefeated the entire summer. Team USA was headlined by LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry, who are widely accepted as the three best NBA players of this era.

James won MVP for his all-around performance at the Paris Olympics, but it was Curry who led Team USA in scoring after his eruption against Serbia and France. Complementing these two stars, Durant returned from a minor calf injury to average 13.8 points, which trailed only Curry and James for the team lead.

USA Basketball receiving a commitment from all three of James, Durant, and Curry was significant, and a recent article from Sam Amick of The Athletic revealed how it all came together.

"Last summer, ‘Bron started texting everybody, giving his input on who we all think should be on the team, and (asking) if everybody was playing," Durant said via The Athletic. “When we start sending those (kinds of) texts out, I kind of knew we were all going to get together and that this was a special time."

Revealing this text message from James, Durant explained how the Los Angeles Lakers star helped assemble this dominant Team USA roster.

Durant and Curry won back-to-back NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors, defeating James' Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017 and 2018. Now with the Phoenix Suns, Durant competes in the Pacific Division against Curry and James.

Outside of the NBA All-Star Game, this is likely the final time James, Durant, and Curry will be teammates.
