Dan Mullen has some history with the SEC, coaching for the Mississippi State Bulldogs from 2009-2017 and Florida Gators from 2018-21. His best season with the Bulldogs was in 2014, finishing 10-3. Mullen had Florida's last 11-win season in 2019.

Mullen was on a recent episode of the " Cube Show " and made quite the wild claim. The conversation started with ESPN's Cole Cubelic asking Mullen about conference expansion. Mullen began to talk about the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners moving conferences.

The former Mississippi State and Florida head coach said every Big 12 team could compete in the SEC.

"There's not a current Big 12 team that can't play with anybody in the SEC," Mullen said. "I mean, Utah can go play with anybody in the SEC."

The Big 12 also expanded this offseason. The Utah Utes, Colorado Buffaloes, Arizona Wildcats, and Arizona State Sun Devils joined the conference.

In the Big 12 last season, four teams won only two games or fewer in conference play. The Houston Cougars, BYU Cougars, and Baylor Bears went 2-7 in Big 12 play. The Cincinnati Bearcats won one game in conference play in 2023.

Texas and Oklahoma were also among three conference teams to have more than 10 wins in 2023. The Oklahoma State Cowboys were the other team, finishing at 10-4.

The Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Missouri Tigers, LSU Tigers, and Ole Miss Rebels all won 10 games or more last season.

As if this offseason could not be any wilder, Mullen came in with one of the more crazy takes before the 2024 season begins.
