After leaving practice on Monday, Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs has avoided a "significant" hamstring injury, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz on Wednesday, August 14.

"The team will be very cautious with rest and rehab to make sure he’s 100% healthy," Schultz wrote on X. "My understanding is he should be ready for Week 1 vs the Rams."

However, Gibbs' recent history of hamstring issues has at least some NFL fans and highly invested fantasy team owners on alert.

Florida-based sports medicine doctor Jesse Morse , who also evaluates NFL injuries to his 88K followers on X, noted "This is at least his second and possibly his third hamstring strain in the past 12 months."

In a reaction video posted to X following Gibbs' injury, Morse shared: "He is at high risk for re-injury early in the season, but as long as this is mild, we could be OK and this may not impact him in Week 1."

Per Morse, "Gibbs also suffered another soft tissue injury, possibly the same one, on June 5 during OTAs."

Speaking to 97.1 The Ticket on Wednesday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell also expressed some confidence that the 22-year-old speedster will fully recover.

"I think we're gonna be fine here," Campbell said. "So, I think we'll be good."

As a rookie in 2023, the No. 12 overall draft pick posted 11 total touchdowns (10 rushing) and 1,261 scrimmage yards (945 rushing) on 234 touches.

Gibbs' backfield mate David Montgomery, who scored a career-high 13 touchdowns of his own last season, appears fully healthy entering his second season with the Lions.
