Trae Young Finds Knicks Fandom 'Hilarious'

    By Lance Roberson,

Trae Young is quite possibly the current version of Reggie Miller in terms of inciting the New York Knicks fan base. Although the Atlanta Hawks, with Young on the roster, and the Knicks only competed against each other in one playoff series, the Madison Square Garden treats Young like public enemy No.1. The All-Star point guard recalled a "funny" Knicks interaction.

Young appeared on a recent episode of the Podcast P Show and took a trip down memory lane of a particular moment with a Knicks fan. "This young little girl, maybe 10 or 12, giving me the finger," Young recalled.

Although a distasteful action coming from anyone, especially a child, such an act is rated PG compared to what the Knicks fans say and do outside Madison Square Garden. Since 2021, New York hasn't forgiven Young for silencing the crowd with a tear-drop floater to win Game 1 in the first round of the 2021 NBA playoffs.

The Knicks won the next game, with chaos ensuing outside of MSG. Aside from the typical curse words and fanatic crowd calls, Young was compared to another man's anatomy. New York fans can become quite bizarre with the right amount of alcohol and cameras nearby.

Julius Randle made his first All-Star game that season, as it appeared the Knicks were set for at least a first-round series victory. However, Randle had the worst playoff debut in recent memory. The second-team All-NBA forward shot an abysmal 28 percent from the field and recorded more turnovers 23 than assists 20.

The Hawks beat the Knicks 4-1 and ultimately lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Although Young won the battle, the Hawks have failed to reach such heights since, as the Knicks are knocking on the door to the Eaastern conference Finals.
