Davante Adams returns to team practices following the birth of his son

The Raiders finally have their star wide receiver Davante Adams back after he had to miss the last five practice in Costa Mesa to be with his family for the birth of his son.

Adams is both anxious and excited to be back with the team, and acknowledges it's time to get back to work and do his best to make up for lost time, as first reported by Paul Gutierrez of ESPN .

"But you've got to get back to work and, obviously, having some familiarity with the scheme, it helps me, eases my mind knowing I've done it all before. Still, being able to get those reps so we go hit it hard, [will help] make sure we make up for any lost time."

Now just because Adams wasn't with the team it doesn't mean he wasn't involved in some sort of way. He watched the first preseason game against the Vikings and watched the quarterback competition unfold with the rest of us.

"You can see we've got two quarterbacks that are not necessarily the same ... the O-line was doing a good job keeping both of those guys clean, as much as possible. I've seen a lot of good so, hopefully, we keep doing that and it's going to make it hard on AP to figure out. But I'm praying for nothing but success for both of them."

Obviously Adams was locked in on the quarterback play, it will after all determine how his season will unfold. As for the lost time, the good news is Adams has played for offensive coordinator Luke Getsy before in Green Bay. So he's not starting from scratch like he was with the Josh McDaniels system, which is known for it's complexity.

Now the question is if Adams will play in the Raiders preseason game Saturday? He's openly said he would not play if it was up to him. If he does, we'll see how he plays with the quarterbacks, if he doesn't he'll be anxiously watching them compete once again with the rest of us.
