Brittney Griner's True Feelings On Facing Chicago Sky Rookie In WNBA Return

Brittney Griner and the Phoenix Mercury will travel to Chicago to face off against the Sky on Thursday. Before the Mercury hit the floor, Griner and Diana Taurasi were interviewed, sharing some insight on their return to the WNBA.

Griner was taking part in the Paris Olympics, representing the United States, where she won her third Olympic gold medal.

After taking some questions about her experience at the Olympics, Griner and the media veered their focus to Phoenix's matchup against the Sky.

Griner commented on her head-to-head match against rookie Kamilla Cardoso.

She mentioned that she is excited to play someone her size. Cardoso is listed at 6-foot-7, while Griner is 6-foot-9, so it should be an interesting contest for any WNBA fan.

"I mean, I'm just looking forward to the game," Griner said. "I don't really get to go up against people my size, really ever, so I'm just looking forward to that."

Cardoso is currently averaging 8.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. She's started in 15 of the 18 games she's played with the Sky this season, serving as Chicago's two-way force in the painted area.

With the frame and soft touch around the basket, Cardoso has seen some comparisons to Griner.

The Mercury star has averaged 18.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Chicago has a talented young duo in their hands with Cardoso and Angel Reese, both of which will likely see minutes against Griner on Thursday.
