ESPN's Rece Davis and Pete Thamel recently caught up together on a YouTube video and discussed their expectations for the first weekend of college football which is coming soon.

As part of their discussion, Davis and Thamel addressed the Clemson Tigers and their opening contest against the AP preseason No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs.

"They'll give Georgia all it wants," Davis assured Thamel. "Georgia wins the game opening week, but they will give Georgia everything they want."

Davis is planting his flag in the Georgia camp, unsurprisingly. However, it doesn't sound like a Clemson victory would shock him, and regardless, he's expecting a competitive matchup on the final day of August.

Davis went on to say that even after losing to Georgia — or, perhaps even beating them — he believes the Tigers can dash to an ACC title and College Football Playoff appearance.

"I'm going to say the three seed and ACC champion — reports of their demise have been greatly exaggerated," he said. "The rest of y'all going to come on in on the Roy Bus and watch the Clemson Tigers come back to the playoff as the ACC champion."

That's a bold prediction, and if it does come to fruition, that could very well mean Clemson and Georgia meet up again in the semifinals or national title game. Keep that contest high on your radar in Week 1.
