Stanford had a highly successful 2024 Olympics, as Cardinal athletes brought home medals in 27 events. That number increases to 39 when counting athletes who were part of the same relay, boat, or team.

With eight gold medals, ten silver medals, and nine bronze medals, Stanford would have tied with Canada for the 11th-most medals in the world had it competed as its own country in the Olympic Games.

Swimmer Katie Ledecky became the most decorated female athlete in American Olympic history after winning two gold medals in Paris. She won gold in 800m and 1,500m freestyle swimming.

Other gold medalists include soccer players Naomi Girma, Tierna Davidson, and Sophia Smith and swimmers Torri Huske, who won three gold medals, and Regan Smith, who won two.

Grant Fisher also put American long-distance running on the map in a massive way, becoming the first man in Team USA history to medal in both the 5,000m and 10,000m races in a single Olympic Games.

Stanford had a highly successful Olympics, and Cardinal fans were proud to see their university represented on the world stage.
