Warriors Pair Steph Curry With Kawhi Leonard In Wild Trade Proposal

After seeing LeBron James and Stephen Curry tear it up for Team USA in the Paris Olympics, it comes as no surprise that the fans are dreaming of a potential NBA team-up between these two future Hall of Famers.

At this point, however, it appears that this prospect is nothing more than a fantasy. Both superstars are locked up with their respective teams and the sad reality is that it seems very unlikely that we'll ever see these two suit up for the same squad ever again.

This is exactly why the Golden State Warriors might want to turn their attention to another superstar from LA. In a hypothetical trade scenario proposed by Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report, it's Kawhi Leonard who's being linked to a blockbuster move to Golden State.

" The Trade : Golden State Warriors acquire Kawhi Leonard from the LA Clippers for Andrew Wiggins, Gary Payton II, Kevon Looney, Moses Moody, 2028 first-round pick (unprotected), 2030 first-round pick (protected 1-3 and 21-30), 2029 first-round swap," Hughes proposed.

That's a pretty massive haul for the Warriors to give up, which could significantly benefit the Clippers if they are interested in "breaking up Leonard's deal into several smaller ones."

Wiggins would be the main factor for LA in this deal in terms of their win-now objective. They get to pair him up with James Harden in what should be a formidable star combination.

The three first-round picks, though, will be the big catch for the Clippers here as these future assets help them significantly in their post-Kawhi-Paul George era.

The Warriors, on the other hand, get to capitalize on Curry's last few remaining years by pairing him with a bona fide second superstar in Leonard. According to Huges, "Leonard, who played 68 games last season and outpaced Steph in both Estimated Plus/Minus (a rate stat) and Estimated Wins (a cumulative stat), could do much more than that."

Whatever the case might be, there's no denying that this is the type of blockbuster trade deal that could reshape the landscape of the NBA as we know it.
