NBA Legend Dwyane Wade Gets Significant Update On Potential New Career

With the 2024 Paris Olympics having wrapped up, there are quite a few notable athletes and media members who will walk away victorious.

One of them happens to be three-time NBA Champion and Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade. Although he has two Olympic medals to his name, one of them being a gold medal from 2008, this has nothing to do with his on-the-court ability.

In fact, the last time we saw Wade play in a professional basketball game was in 2019, so you may be wondering how he walked away having won at the Olympics. Well, the 42-year-old and Basketball Hall-of-Fame member showcased that he was elite on the call, especially during Team USA's gold medal game win over France. He, along with his broadcast partner Noah Eagle, may have put the sports broadcasting world on notice, and recent reports revealed that Wade could find himself with a long list of suitors for a role as an analyst.

According to a report by Richard Deitsch of The Athletic from earlier this week, Wade is expected to get a "serious look" from both NBC and Amazon. Deitsch also revealed that Wade had worked on his broadcasting craft extensively, which doesn't come as a surprise if you watched him as a player. Wade reportedly spent time with both a speech coach and a vocal coach in order to really harness his skills for the Olympics. Something that he told Deitsch he really wanted to be prepared for.

“When I got asked to do this, I looked at this as probably one of the biggest challenges in my 2024 calendar year,” Wade said. “… I decided to dive into it, understanding that it was going to be a lot of things that was going to be learned on the fly. … Being able to sit right next to Noah (Eagle) … I’ve definitely asked him a lot of questions about this world, stuff that I didn’t know. Something as simple as, ‘Hey, bro, what does No. 1 mean? What is a No. 1 team?’ I don’t know those things. I’m not afraid to say what I don’t know. But most importantly just being myself. That’s the one thing that everyone told me, and that’s what I told myself when I signed up to do this. I’m going to bring my brand of basketball to the airwaves, understanding, just like in life, some people are going to love it. Some people will not love it.”

This wasn't Wade's first time on television as he has also spent some time as a studio analyst for TNT, but this may have been his best display of on-air abilities of his brief media career. A success story that could very well lead to him being on NBC's growing NBA team in the future.
