76ers Interested in Signing Former Player

The Philadelphia 76ers look like genuine Championship contenders right now after what has been a spectacular offseason for Nick Nurse's team. Of course, the headline-grabbing move was signing Paul George on a four-year, $212 million deal.

In Philadelphia, George will form arguably the best trio in the league alongside Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. That's some Big Three.

There is a lot to like about the 76ers' roster depth right now as well. They have a lot of options in multiple positions. Especially at center, with Embiid's fitness an area of concern after he managed to play just 39 regular season games in 23/24.

One position where the 76ers remain light on options though is power forward. On top of that, they only have a one-year, minimum-salary deal to offer to fill that role.

According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer , the 76ers have interest in signing former Sixers power forward and North Philly native Marcus Morris Sr.

Morris was part of the 76ers last season and played 37 games for the franchise, averaging 17.2 minutes before he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs.

Morris did not play a single game for the Spurs though and was waived, after which he ended up joining the Cleveland Cavaliers and spent the rest of the season there, becoming a part of their rotation and getting around 15 minutes a game.

It is not hard to see why the 76ers might be interested in bringing back Morris. He knows the team already, is a veteran and would fit the required role.

At the same time, it is possible that the 76ers do not sign a power forward and fill that role with players on the team already.

In the modern game, roles have become somewhat interchangeable. Just look at the Boston Celtics and how well they have done with a fluid system, winning the Championship last season.
