We are just over one week away from the start of the college football season. Therefore, we will soon determine which teams are legitimate and which ones were just hyped up in the offseason.

The Miami Hurricanes have developed a reputation for offseason hype. While the Hurricanes have been ranked in seven of the last eight seasons, they have finished the season ranked only twice. The season they will start the year at No. 19 in the preseason AP Top 25 .

ESPN's Paul Finebaum believes Miami will live up to its ranking this year, predicting the Hurricanes to win the ACC and secure a spot in the College Football Playoff.

"In the ACC, I might go with Miami," Finebaum said. "I do believe that Florida State will find themselves in the bottom of the top 25."

After a historic run that lasted until 2003, the Hurricanes have been disappointing. Miami joined the ACC after the 2003 season, which was considered a major gain. However, the team acquired by the ACC has lost at least three games every year since then.

Every time the Hurricanes have shown glimpses of their former selves, such as in 2017 when Miami went 10-3 and played in the Orange Bowl, they have struggled to capitalize. Since that 2017 season, the Hurricanes have only had one eight-win season and an overall record of 40-34. Despite this, Finebaum believes that this could be their year.
