Aaron Rodgers is back on the field after a torn Achilles ended his 2023 season early, but the New York Jets quarterback may still have some rust to shake off.

Rodgers was injured in the first drive of last season, tearing his ACL and watching the team stumble to a 7-10 record. Though he has been cleared to return to practice, Rodgers has been uneven so far and struggled at the team's practice on August 15.

Reporter Connor Hughes of SNY noted that Rodgers and the entire Jets offense was not crisp at joint practices with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, with the quarterback throwing two interceptions.

While Hughes noted that Rodgers did complete 15 of his 24 passes with two touchdowns, he had one interception that went off the hands of wide receiver Allen Lazard and another when he missed a pass in the middle of the field.

"The [second interception] was Rodgers telegraphing one over the middle in the red zone to the linebacker," Hughes wrote.

Hughes noted that even one of Rodgers' touchdowns "deserves a bit of an asterisk."

"The Panthers were all over Rodgers for a would-be sack," Hughes wrote. "The play wasn’t blown dead, so Rodgers threw one up and Garrett Wilson came down with it. The second touchdown was a short one to Wilson to cap a drive-the-field drill."

Rodgers has been able to practice in full and is on track to start in the team's season opener against the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers on September 9.
