Mahomes Details 'Best Thing' About Training Camp

The long, arduous grind of training camp is nearly over, and for the Kansas City Chiefs, all the work done over the last four weeks is the foundation for their three-peat attempt.

While there are still two preseason games to go , the regular season is just around the corner, and things will go up a notch as the Baltimore Ravens come into view in Week 1.

For quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is now no stranger to long training camps, detailed the best thing about this year's camp.

"I thought it was a competitive camp, that was the best thing," Mahomes said. "Every day, you didn't know if the offense or defense was going to win, and that's when it's a great camp. You want to compete. There were days the defense got after us, and there were days that I felt like we had the advantage. That was the [best] thing that I took from camp…It was the competitive nature."

With the offense led by Mahomes boasting two new weapons in Marquise Brown (unfortunately injured right now) and Xavier Worthy, Patrick has his deep ball back.

But throughout camp, Steve Spagnuolo's defense has done a great job at making life difficult for the offense. And that's the competitive balance that Mahomes has loved.

With the Chiefs in a good position to have a genuine crack at their third successive Super Bowl, getting off to a good start is paramount. The Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals are first up on the schedule, and Kansas City will lean on the work put in during training camp to slay two AFC contenders right out of the gate.

Mahomes says it's been a great, competitive camp, but now, with the regular season coming into view, he, like other Chiefs players, surely can't wait for it to be over.
