'How Good Is It?' Dak Reveals Contract Update

    By Wil Riggs,

In terms of a self-imposed regular-season deadline, the Dallas Cowboys are going down to the wire as they work at getting contract deals done for All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb and star quarterback Dak Prescott.

Lamb is holding out and has not reported to camp and vows not to until his contract demands are met.

Meanwhile, Prescott has been present for every OTA, minicamp and training camp practice. And he's worked his way toward the cusp of a financial windfall like we’ve never seen in the NFL before.

    Is there progress?

“Good conversations are going on, I will say that,” Prescott said at his Thursday media session in Oxnard, adding that in terms of a new deal getting done, he has "a lot of confidence.''

Prescott could play this season without an extension and become an unrestricted free agent next March, where teams could be lined up with their Brink’s truck full of cash to dump in his lap. CowboysCountry has reported via a source that a "patient'' Prescott could eventually earn a record-shattering $70 million APY.

Dak was asked whether agent Todd France provides him with updates on negotiation news.

“It depends,'' he said with a grin, "on how good (the news) is.”
