The Philadelphia Phillies took it to the Washington Nationals on Thursday night, and one man more than most. With a line drive double in the eighth inning, Weston Wilson hit for the 10th cycle in Phillies history.

His night started slowly, with a strikeout in the first inning and his first at-bat. His next at bat would result in a line drive triple off the top of the wall in right field, that was misplayed by Nationals right fielder Alex Call allowing Wilson to reach third easily.

In the same inning, Wilson would collect the single portion of the cycle with an infield bloop that no one made any attempt to catch.

It would not be until the seventh inning that Wilson would have another at bat, and he would make it count, hitting an opposite field home run to put the Phillies up 10-3. It was his third home run of the season.

With the Phillies up by a wide margin, there was a very slim chance of the bottom of the ninth inning being played. The Phillies offense made it happen, however, and had Wilson due up third in the bottom of the eighth.

With one out, and one on, Wilson would hit a line drive to right field. Call would dive for the ball, but it would ricochet off his glove and fall safely allowing Wilson to reach second safely and to complete the 10th cycle in Phillies history.

Wilson ends the night batting .342/.350/.684 with three home runs over 40 plate appearances in 16 games this season. He has definitely made a case for more playing time going forward.
