Pole Vaulter Says Her Spicy Subscription Site Crashed After Viral Olympic Twerk

Several athletes became overnight sensations at the 2024 Paris Olympics for reasons that had nothing to do with their athletic performances.

One such instance happened for Canadian pole vaulter Alysha Newman, who in the matter of hours, became a viral internet sensation for twerking after winning a bronze medal in the pole vault.

As a result, her OnlyFans account blew up. In fact, it didn’t just blow up, it actually crashed.

“It’s quite insane,” Newman told the Daily Mail . “My whole team actually had to get on a phone call because a lot of the website was crashing because of how many people actually came on … A lot of the OnlyFans people were jumping on the call with me.”

Newman claims she gained around 20,000 new subscribers on her OF page, which she says helped pay for her coaches to travel to Paris with her. The Daily Mail estimates she’s made more than $150,000 in new subscriptions since her viral Olympic moment.

“There's always a [stigma] around it, and I am well aware of it,” Newman added. “But I have so much faith in the company and where it's going.”

It wasn’t just her subscription page that saw a crazy influx of new fans, Newman’s social media presence also took off after the Olympics. She said her Instagram page has grown by 200,000 followers.

Newman can only hope her athletic career takes off as quickly as her internet career did.

She’s won a handful of medals at other non-Olympic competitions including the Commonwealth Games, the Pan American Games and the Pan American U20 Championships, as well as medaling at the Canadian track and field championships and the Mid-American Conference and ACC indoor competitions.
