Giants' Devin Singletary Ranked Worst NFL's Worst Starting Running Back?

Saquon Barkley bolts for the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants are left with the worst starting running back in the NFL. At least that's the opinion of NFL Network analyst Maurice Jones-Drew, who this week ranked Devin Singletary No. 32 among No. 1 running backs.

    Ouch.

“Singletary was fine in Houston last season, posting career highs in carries and yards," Jones-Drew said. "But he won’t demand attention from opposing defenses. Plus, I question whether New York did enough to boost its offensive line. Big Blue’s run game faces an uphill battle.”

For what it's worth, Jones-Drew ranked the Washington Commanders' Austin Ekeler No. 28, the Dallas Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott No. 25 and Barkley No. 5.

Signed as a free agent after Barkley left town, Singletary is coming off a season with the Houston Texans in which he rushed for 898 yards, a 4.2-yard average and four touchdowns.

While his disrespect of Singletary may be harsh, Jones-Drew, of course, has a valid point about the Giants' offensive line. They gave up the most sacks in the NFL last season, though the front office has attempted an upgrade by bringing in players such as Jon Runyan Jr., Jermaine Eluemunor and Greg Van Roten.
