Cowboys Sum up CeeDee Lamb Contract Negotiations in Just One Word

The Dallas Cowboys and star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb are still working toward an agreement on a new long-term contract extension, but the negotiations are far from over.

When asked to provide an update on the contract situation, Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones had a brief response.

    “Ongoing,” Jones said .

Lamb, who has been holding out of training camp and missed the Cowboys’ first preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams, is seeking a lucrative extension that would place him among the top-paid receivers in the league.

So far, the Dallas front office has yet to offer a number that the 6-foot-2, 201-pound wideout deems sufficient, and the talks remain, as Jones put it, a “challenge” for the team.

“I know everybody likes them to be done immediately. As I said, it’s a challenge for us. In terms of working three of the better football players in this league," Jones explained. "Trying to get them in a situation where they’re happy, and it works for us as well. We’ll continue to work, pencils are up, we’re working hard at it. Hopefully, we’ll continue to make some progress and get one or two of these guys done.”

In addition to Lamb, the Cowboys are also navigating contract talks with starting quarterback Dak Prescott and defensive superstar Micah Parsons. Juggling three high-profile negotiations simultaneously has created a complex situation for the front office.

Lamb is coming off a dominant season where he led the league with 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, solidifying his place as one of the NFL's elite receivers. Naturally, Lamb wants to be compensated on par with the league’s top wideouts, and in time, will be.

For now, the contract talks with Lamb, Prescott, and Parsons remain "ongoing," although the Cowboys are optimistic they will find common ground.
