Before the Miami Hurricanes travel to Gainesville to play Florida, here’s a look at several prime 2023 offensive statistics that will once again be important in 2024.

Will Miami have an explosive offense this season? Below the statistics themselves, a prediction about this question will be found at the end of the article.

All the 2023 statistics include a national ranking (#) and come from CFB Stats .

    Scoring Average: 31.5 (39)

    Rushing Yards: 173.2 (45)

    Passing Yards: 258 (43)

    Total Offense: 431.2 (31)

    Sacks Allowed: 13 (17)

Tackles For Loss Allowed: 63 (13)

    Interceptions Thrown: 14 (107)

    Fumbles Lost: 8 (78)

    Rushing First Downs: 112 (60)

    Passing First Downs: 150 (32)

    First Down’s Per Game Average: 22 (34)

    Third Down Conversions: 41.1% (52)

    Fourth Down Conversions: 52.4% (65)

    Red Zone Touchdowns: 57.7% (90)

Rushing Plays Of 10 Or More: 65 (59)

Rushing Plays Of 20 Or More: 20 (40)

Passing Plays Of 10 Or More: 129 (35)

Passing Plays Of 20 Or More: 48 (39)

With Cam Ward , Damien Martinez , and more transfers joining a loaded recruiting class, in addition to the returning Miami offensive players like Xavier Restrepo and Jacolby George , this should be an explosive offensive unit. How it operates will be even more interesting.

Miami’s massive offensive line has multiple future NFL players like Jalen Rivers and Francis Mauigoa . Look for Miami to run over many of its opponents, and that could even be the Gators. UF is coming into the 2024 season after allowing 152 or more rushing yards six times last season.

Kentucky even went for 329 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground against UF. That means UM’s rushing attack should successfully move the ball against Florida and other teams. The passing attack should also be better in multiple ways, too.

Miami should throw the football with more respect for not giving it to the opposition. Ward is working with veteran receivers and quality receiving tight ends like Elijah Arroyo and Riley Williams .

Fans should expect Miami to hit long passing plays as well as see talented playmakers take short-to-intermediate catches and turn them into chunk-yardage plays. To that end, also watch for the Canes to efficiently pass the football in the red zone. That’s an area that needs far better decision-making, blocking, route running, and fewer penalties.

Looking at the sum of Miami’s talent combined with its experience, this team should surpass 35 points, rush for at least 190 yards, and pass for 270 or more yards. Perhaps most importantly of all, the interception total should be below 10 with Ward behind center. Those statistics coming to fruition should provide a good chance for Miami to reach the College Football Playoff.
