New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is set to make his long-awaited return to live action this Saturday as the Giants face the Houston Texans in a preseason matchup. This marks the first time Jones will play since suffering a torn ACL nine months ago. The quarterback, who has been fully cleared for all activities since the start of training camp, has shown no hesitation in his movements and is eager to test his knee in a game setting.

Throughout his rehabilitation, Jones remained confident that he would be ready for training camp and Week 1 of the regular season. His commitment to recovery was evident, demonstrating his readiness for the upcoming season. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka praised Jones for his steady improvement, particularly in his footwork, progression, and communication with the offensive line.

Despite some initial concerns about deep ball accuracy, Kafka noted that Jones has been refining his timing and accuracy each day. The focus has been on perfecting the fundamentals, from receiver route depth to the quarterback’s dropback, ensuring that everything aligns for effective passing.

Jones is determined to put last season’s struggles behind him and return to the form that led the Giants to their first postseason berth since 2016. As he prepares to take the field against the Texans, Jones expressed confidence in his knee’s readiness and his eagerness to get back into the rhythm of live gameplay.

While head coach Brian Daboll has not disclosed how much playing time Jones and the other starters will receive, it is expected that they could play at least a half, depending on the game’s flow. For Jones, this preseason game is an opportunity to reacclimate to the speed of the game, face a live pass rush, and operate the huddle in a road environment.

“I’m ready to go,” Jones said , emphasizing his readiness to play as much as needed. He views this game as a critical step in his return to full form, and he’s looking forward to whatever opportunities come his way on the field.
