'Working on Little Details!' Chiefs Mahomes on What Makes TE Kelce Great

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce are one of the best duos in football as the wavelength the pair are on makes them borderline unstoppable at times.

But getting to where they are doesn't happen by chance; it takes time and extra practice sessions, study sessions, and everything in between.

As Kelce embarks on another season in the NFL, he is coming off a "down" year by his lofty standards, but Mahomes has detailed why Kelce has been at the top of his game for so long.

“It's remarkable honestly, you see him out there every day at practice, he's working he's in there getting the reps,” Mahomes said . “I mean he has all the right in the world to go out there and just kind of be on the sideline and coach because he knows all the stuff, but he loves it man, he loves working and it makes my job easy as a leader to push other guys because I can just say look at the Hall of Famer who's out here pricing harder than anybody.

"So that’s what makes him so special man is that he enjoys the process of being great not just the top, not winning the Super Bowl, he enjoys the process of practicing, he enjoys the process of working on little details and that's what the great ones do.”

With the Chiefs aiming for a historic three-peat in 2024, Kelce and Mahomes will be central to any success Kansas City hopes to have.

While yes, the acquisitions of Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy are notable and will give the offense a deep threat again, everything starts and stops with Kelce and Mahomes.

Many thought Father Time was catching up with Kelce last season as he hit several lows stats-wise, but when the playoffs began, he was his usual self.

Now, as another training camp is nearly complete, Kelce still has the fire to continue being great, and with the future Hall of Famer pushing everyone, including Mahomes to be better, maybe, just maybe, the Chiefs' attempt at history in 2024 will be a successful one.
